Farsong’s Eyres

More Spooky Poetry

April 17, 2009 · Leave a Comment

There are plenty of spooky or creepy poems that give you goosebumps, Edgar Allan Poe, of course. But here is a more unusual one that you may not have heard before:

Night Crow

Theodore Roethke

When I saw that clumsy crow
Flap from a wasted tree
A shape in the mind rose up:
Over the gulfs of dream
Flew a tremendous bird
Further and further away
Into a moonless black,
Deep in the brain, far back.
